The Game

On a small island an Panacea's average day of hunting is interrupted by the crashing of some strange object.

Amidst the damage and chaos something has started to mutate and control the animals of the forest, can Panacea find the source of the grotesque disease and stop it before it's too late.

Mutagen is an isometric hack 'n' slash game with rouge-like elements. The enemies you faced were animals who had been mutated by some robotic disease. Scavenge parts from the defeated to be able to take on any challenge.

The Goal

Canyon003_0001.png

Mutagen was the culmination of Ratpit studio's 2yrs of study. We were tasked with creating a team of artists designers and programmers and use the Unity engine to create a Vertical slice of a game we had to prototype and present to the student body.

After creating the team we ironed out the type of experience we wanted to create for the eventual industry night at the end of year. We decided we wanted to create an experience that would be a little different for everyone that played and was challenging enough that people would reliable comeback to try again.

My Role

Starting off as just the Co-designer, I quickly elevated into producer role with organizing many of the teams meeting and goals for each sprint of development, as well as creating the opportunity to present Mutagen at the Supernova Convention.

My main role was systems design, working closely with both the programmers in the team to create the combat and upgrade systems, the AI routines and the general game feel.

During the development i had the opportunity to also expand my skills dabbling in some VFX and Shaders.

Rat Pit studios was the name the team gave ourselves after long discussion. Every member has incredible talents and passion for game development, I hope to be able to see each and everyone of them find their space in the game industry and thrive. Not only were they incredible colleague but also incredible friends.
